Hey, blogspot readers, who's ready to "bounce"?

Kicking off Pride Month activities and fun, SouthSide is about to get her "bounce" on with Big Freddia Wednesday night at Empty Bottle.

Credited in popularizing New Orleans underground hip hop genre known as "bounce", Big Freedia aka Freddie Ross has appeared on Last Call with Carson Daly and Jimmy Kimmel! Live! as well as SXSW ...and now he's coming to show Chicago how the folks in Nawlins bounce to songs like "Booty-Whop" and "Feelin' Myself".  Though describing his genre as "sissy bounce", he's quoted saying "...there's no such thing as separating it into straight bounce and sissy bounce ...it's all bounce music...", blogspot readers.  Even Rolling Stones recently called this artist the "...ambassador for bounce music ...designed to make asses, well, bounce..." SouthSide recommends checking ...or better yet bouncing to the track off RuPaul's Born Naked album - "Freaky Money".

So get your bounce on either Wednesday or Thursday or attend both nights at Empty Bottle when Big Freedia comes to town as part of his "Just Be Free" tour (the album is set to be release on June 17). Both nights will feature opening acts Chances Dances (on Wednesday) and Porn & Chicken DJs (on Thursday). Tickets are still available for $20.

If you cannot attend, then tune into Fuse for the season premiere of Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce on June 11 at 11 (EST) / 10 (Central).

Until next time, support your local scene,
