Hey, blogspot readers, it’s part two of SouthSide’s adventures around town! This time it took her to Avondale’s legendary dive bar known as Live Wire where she had the extreme pleasure of meeting two power house female-fronted bands when their tour recently stopped in Chicago. And what this reviewer experienced from both bands was something more than just intense vocals and heart-pounding metal music. She experienced some raw emotions felt from each female singer from their unique vocal styles.
To kick things off was the opening band, Black Cat Heart Attack, blogspot readers, to which this reviewer (at first) had a hard time deciphering their music because it was all over the map. Throughout the set, they touched metal, rock, alternative, grunge and more yet somehow in a very strange way it worked! SouthSide found herself digging this weird music vibe especially at the bridge when the band lets the sound ride within a full 70s psychedelic wave. Add some rough throaty screamo vocals and the classic Ozzy Osbourne Black Sabbath hand clapping type of animated body language and stage presence, you got one hard rockin’ opening set that finished with a loud bang, blogspot readers!
Reign of Z
This band draws upon her personal experiences from the exes in her life to domestic abusers like in the song Reflections. And with her stage presence, there’s no holding back in what she sings about these things from her past …her life story is an open book only if you dare to read, experience and feel what she felt at that moment of her life. Honestly, SouthSide has been there herself too. We all have at one point or another. Reign of Z’s performance had the Live Wire audience feeling every ounce of hate bubbling from the stage as it was meant to be – very hot and angry coming from deep inside This reviewer highly recommend checking out their latest single, Cellophane hearing it recorded did not prepare SouthSide for the live version. Also, meet and chat with Reign of Z before or after the show – they have plenty of tales to tell you about life on tour living out of the van (not down by the river …points if you know where that reference is from), blogspot readers.
