Hey, blogpot readers, SouthSide has some exciting news to exclusively tell you and it's happening right here in Chicago!
The Atlantic Music Festival will be rockin' its debut on Thursday and Friday, August 28th & 29th at Lakeview's Elbo Room featuring Ireland's two hot and up-n-coming bands - Cold Comfort and The Hot Sprockets! Ready to make an impact with music fans on these shores, both bands will be performing both nights, blogspot readers.
COLD COMFORT
"It comes
as no surprise that folk rock five some Cold Comfort have produced a thoroughly
enchanting debut single" – HOTPRESS
Cold
Comfort's sound has been described as "a cocktail of blues, rock &
roll and country.” Their influences range from Neil Young and The Velvet
Underground to Rory Gallagher, but they go beyond these influences to create an
eclectic soundscape.
Lead singer, Rob Walsh, was writing tunes
for around four years and started playing various bars and clubs around Dublin,
Ireland. Walsh has the charisma of a rock & roll superstar with amazing
vocals, and a band that are tipped to make a huge impact on their US tour this
summer. Check out Cold Comfort!
THE HOT SPROCKETS
"Ireland's next big thing! Incredible" - RTE (Ireland's National Broadcaster)
The Hot Sprockets are
five brothers who came together with a shared love of rock & roll music – the
kind of music that is haunted by the ghosts of rhythm & blues. Take the
good-time revolutionary spirit of MC5, add some rough-edged Jon Spencer Blues
Explosion, simmer it down to the sounds of bittersweet soul yearnings, and you
are beginning to taste the cosmic temptation that is The Hot Sprockets.
It has been an incredible 12 months for The
Hot Sprockets. With sell-out shows across Ireland, an appearance on The Late Late Show and the huge success
of the singles 'Soul Brother', 'Comin On' & 'Homeslice' winning over fans
and critics alike. Check out The Hot Sprockets!
Tickets for both shows are $20 ...and it's predicted to sell out - so get yours NOW!
Until next time, support your local scene,
