12 April 19 - Muse Simulation Theory World Tour
Hey, blogspot readers, SouthSide is kicking off her HUGE 5 - 0 (yep, turned 50 on 21 April) birthday celebration with a special concert viewing - Muse's Simulation Theory World Tour with Chicago being the band's final US tour stop. To say she was excited would be an understatement since she's not really a fan but more like an admirer of their music. There are an entire list of songs she enjoys listening to such as "Animals", "Bliss", "Eco Politics" and of course the fight song - "Knights of Cydonia". This reviewer had a chance to see Muse perform live once before during Lollapallooza however Mother Nature had other plans that night ie it rained at the beginning of their headlining set. So, SouthSide was overjoyed to hear about the tour after listening to the latest album - Simulation Theory though wondering how Matt, Chris and Dominic would translate a throw-back homage to the early 80s video gaming/Tron-like sound and atmosphere.

This tour is worth the money spent to see the space cadet glow of the music and performance art for nearly three hours. Yes, this reviewer highly recommends catching Muse live and see the stage performers rockin' the horns for "Pressure" or the giant inflatable during "Stockholm Syndrome" ...confetti explosion during "Mercy" as well as rigged performers (SouthSide had a good view of the backstage action where she was sitting) zipping up and down at times. It was a feast for the eyes that dazzled and amazed while the guys entertained with a solid mixture of current and past Muse songs to which you will be singing along to. SouthSide enjoyed the bit of Close Encounter of the Third Kind reference in between "From the Dark Side" and "Supermassive Black Hole" with a touch of "The Handler" tucked in there at the end.
Walk The Moon
Opening the night was the rock band - Walk The Moon which totally surprised this reviewer with their Lion King theme to kick off the highly energized set with songs like "Surrender", "One Foot", "Shut Up and Dance" - totally had the crowd especially on the main floor fired up for more. SouthSide appreciated their homage to rock legends Led Zeppelin when performing riffs to her favorite song - "Kashmir" ...it just blew her away. Boosting heartfelt vocals and unique music combinations of orchestral piano movements and thundering kettle drums (sometimes), Walk The Moon reminded her of another band she knows - Makeshift Prodigy.
